Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs visited Panbil

Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakhrisnan accompanied by Ambassador of Singapore for Indonesia, Mr Anil Kumar Nayar and Singapore Consul for Batam, Mr Gavin Chay have visited Batam on the 25th of April 2017. During the occasion the Minister had a chance to meet the Governor of Riau Islands Province, Mr Nurdin Basirun and several businessmen at the Best Western Premier Panbil Hotel, located next to Panbil Industrial Estate. Among the businessmen were CEO of Panbil Group, Mr Johanes Kennedy Aritonang, CEO of Citramas Group, Mr Kris Wiluan, and Managing Director of PT. Sat Nusapersada Tbk, Mr Abidin Hasibuan.

The meeting discussed about how to increase investment cooperation between Singapore and Indonesia, particularly Batam. Today, most of Singapore companies have been in operating across Batam to enjoy the benefit of lower labour cost as well as the abundant land which relatively cheaper than in Singapore.

In the long term, Riau Islands Province is still an attractive investment destination for investors not only in the industrial sector but also tourism, resorts, oil and gas supporting, shipyards and stockyards.
